Hi, my name is Mic Houghton, and I was Don Luttrell's "Presidential Assistant" in 1984 at CEM. I was on a leave of absence from a job in Kansas and attended the church in Palmas del Mar, where Don preached on Sundays. Ruth, Janet, Michael and the younger daughter were at CEM at the time. I know R Glenmore uth passed away, and Janet took over, then her sister, but I then lost track. Don and I met with a man from Michigan one day and went to look at a former government building which had been gutted by fire. They were trying to set up a college in Santurce to help balance out the communist influence from other colleges in the region. On the floor above CEM, there was a man who had been involved with the U of PR, and I believe he had been the Sec. of State at one time. I was working with his secretary creating an English/Spanish curriculam for this college, and also arrange for instructors for staffing. Don and the man from Michigan completed an application for a loan for $200B, which I faxed to the Minister of the Treasury in Saudi Arabia. Don said they had a $3T account which was used for short-term loans for projects which would help deter the communist influence in the Caribbean. When Don began having troubles with his diabetes, the man upstairs went to the US for another project he was involved with, and I had to return to the US for my job. I have always wondered if this college, ever materialized, and I see by the Internet that it has!! God is Good! On another note: I saw a hymn in our church recently written by Beth Rice Luttrell, and wondered if she could be a relative of Don and Ruth? I can’t find any information about her on-line.
