Seeburg 1000 - Los Angeles, CA

When I was a teenager in the 1970's, I thought this kind of music was boring and depressing. Now, I find it very pleasant, and a nostalgic reminder of the past. And it took a lot of talented musicians to make the music. It is music that seems to have essentially gone extinct, as no one appears to be composing and playing it anymore, and it had been decades since I have heard it on the radio or in a store.

This is a wonderful and unique channel to hear the original authentic custom-recorded arrangements. There is a channel on YouTube called "TechMoan" that has a video showing how the Seeburg 1000 machine worked... it played 1000 songs before it repeated, and it was absolutely ingenious. In the USA this was the main competitor to Muzak back in the day. Thank you!

@MUSWELL: In some UK shops etc. back in the day, yes they DID have background music; from systems like the Reditune from Rediffusion (which used over-size tape cartridges).

In the UK we didn't have music to shop by, this would be called "Test Card Music" - a patterned card shown in between TV programmes with this style of music to enable engineers to install
